As Iowa's first chartered cooperative founded in 1886, First Cooperative Association (FCA), Cherokee, IA, has grown into a major grain marketer and supplier of livestock and dairy feed ingredients, fuel, and crop inputs serving producers from 20 locations throughout the state. Last year, for example, FCAsoldnearly 13.3 million gallons of gas and other fuels, including propane. In addition, it sold more than 112,000 tons of dry and liquid fertilizers, including nearly 14,000 tons of anhydrous ammonia.
