There are few buildings left in Esmond, SD, but along the streets, there are green and white metal signs thatmark the location of businesses that once operated there, including three grain elevators. Though one can hear road crews and farm equipment nearby, Esmond has been a ghost town since the 1980s.There are two side-by-side wood elevators along the rail bed. It is obvious that neither has been used for decades. The larger south elevator has mosdy wood siding, though the headhouse is sided with metal. In some places, the cribbing is exposed. In others, the elevator-red paint has faded away, and what remains of the wood siding is bare. The manlift frame has no manlift.
