When Ben Beutke, president of Wheeler Grain Co., Long Point, IL (815-854-2444), purchased a new grain dryer in 2007, he was able to obtain help with the project's cost. "We heard that you could get some grant money for installing a high-efficiency grain dryer," Beutke says. Beutke contacted Molly Hammond, business cooperative specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Illinois Rural Development office in Champaign, and found that his elevator's project qualified for the federal program.
