摘要

Blood samples from healthy Beagle, German Shepherd and Golden Retriever puppies were obtained at different intervals after parturition: 1 to 3 days (146 samples), 8 to 10 days (137), 28 to 33 days (151) and 50 to 58 days (129). Erythrocyte count inpuppies between 1 and 3 days of life was 4.57?.68 x 106/鎙, which was below the reference range for adult animals. Erythrocyte count further decreased between 8 and 10 days of life to 3.59?.41 x 106/鎙, and then increased to 4.75?.68 x 106/鎙 (reference range: 3.73-6.25 x 106/鎙) between 50 and 58 days of life. Haemoglobin concentration (13.5?.0 g/dl) and haematocrit (41.0?.5%) in puppies after birth were close to the lower limit of reference range for adults. Both parameters decreased further reaching a minimum of 8.4?.0 g/dl and 26.8?.2%, respectively, between 28 and 33 days of life. The values of these parameters between 50 and 58 days of life (10.1?.1 g/dl, range: 7.5-11.8 g/dl; and 32.1?.2%, range: 24.8 to 40.8%) were remarkably lower than the reference values for adult dogs. Mean erythrocyte volume (MCV, 89.8?.7 fl) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH, 29.6?.9 pg) at 1 to 3 days of life were distinctly higher than the reference values for adult dogs. Both parameters decreased with increasing age and their values at 50 to 58 days of age were comparable to those of adults. No significant effect of age on mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC). was observed. A relatively high number of normoblasts at day 1 of life (8?/100leukocytes) decreased rapidly with age. German Shepherd dogs had a lower initial erythrocyte count, haemoglobin concentration and haematocrit than the other 2 breeds. They also had a higher normoblast count at the second and third sampling periods. No clear sex differences were observed for any parameter studied.
