Fertilizer markets continue forward movement despite high raw material prices. IN response to a lecovery in fertilizer demand, global fertilize! production and trade in 2004 grew by an average of 4% and 8%, respectively. Both reached near record levels. Most producer s operated at rates close to capacity and few operations remained idle. Tight market conditions have prevailed since the beginning of 2004, resulting in escalating fertilizer prices for almost all fertilizer products, intermediates, andr aw materials.
