AGREVO 'COTTONS' TO SEED: AgrEvo to offer FiberMax cotton varieties under joint venture with leading Australian firm

WITH positions staked out in corn and soybeans with its Liberty Link technology, AgrEvo will take its next strategic biotech step into the U.S. cotton market. Company officials recently announced the formation of AgrEvo Cotton Seed International (ACSI), a joint venture research and development company between AgrEvo and Cotton Seed International Proprietary Ltd. (CSI), the top Australian cottonseed R&D firm. AgrEvo will own a 51% share of the new company which will breed, develop, and market new cotton varieties beginning in 1998. The deal unites AgrEvo's crop protection technologies and CSI's elite germplasm.
