For decades, the cold forming industry has relied on the combination of metal phosphate conversion coatings and soap-based lubricant coatings. These products perform well for the manufacture of steel articles for the automotive, appliance, aerospace and other industries. Their application usually involves other chemical and physical treatments such as alkaline cleaning, acid pickling or shot blasting, neutralizing and in some cases phosphate refinement through conditioner activation. Once coated, pre-formed steel billets, wire or tubing can then be formed into a variety of lengths and shapes.
