Automotive-type glass bending and toughening is known as the most demanding safety glass process. Its technical challenge derives from difficulties in handling thin glasses. Thin glasses require a higher toughening temperature than thicker glasses, they are more easily distorted in handling and they cool down quickly in ambient temperatures. Moreover, the optical qualities, bending accuracies, repeatability requirements and safety standards required for automotive-type glasses are the highest of all glass types.
