CVMA Economic Issues Survey Executive Summary

The CVMA recently commissioned a study and report on economic trends affecting California veterinarians. In this first article, we provide an overview of the survey. The online survey was conducted in July and August and received 1,477 responses, including 1,253 responses from active clinicians—a very strong response indicating high interest in the issues. The survey data gives a detailed picture of the demographic makeup of the population of veterinarians in California, economic conditions of the industry, and veterinarians' attitudes toward the profession and its future. The next three issues of California Veterinarian will share detailed findings from this original research. The complete executive summary of findings will be published in January2014.
