In recent years grape growers have been inundated with information on Pierce's disease (PD) and Glassy wingel Sharpshooter (GWSS) Much has been written about the movement within the state and how to control both disease and insect. Prior to their presence in Temecula (Riverside County) and Southern San Joaquin Valley (Kern County), PD and GWSS research was almost nonexistent. Now with the vast losses in grape acreage, research monies have increased several thousand fold, giving us some hope that controls for both may some-day be found.
