Many professional valuers will admit to being flummoxed when faced with valuing a small area of woodland which may look beautiful but has little scope for growing timber commercially. In these situations it is hard to apply any standard measures of valuation such as rental value or timber yield - though comparables are always important. For this reason we are often asked for details of our recent sales by both commercial surveyors and Valuation Office valuers.
