If Phil Perry is any indication, the future of the greenhouse industry is in good hands. Cornell Cooperative Extension horticulturist Brian Esh-enaur named Phil, age 33, one of western New York's best growers, At Grossman's Country Nursery in Penfield, New York, Phil works with owners Larry and Frances Grossman to grow an impressive array of annuals and perennials for retail sale in their high-end store. Says Brian, "I think of him as somebody I'd want to have on my team because he knows a lot, he picks up on things really fast, and he's not afraid to try something new. He'll get in there with the newest releases--the ones where the culture isn't fully worked out-and he'll figure out the best growing conditions for them."
