The efficacy of oral treatment with pramiconazole in tinea pedis and tinea cruris/corporis: two exploratory phase IIa trials.

Sir, Tinea infections such as tinea pedis and tinea cruris/ corporis can to some degree be treated with topical agents. However, more severe presentations may require a moreefficacious oral treatment. The disadvantage of an oral treatment is that there is a greater potential for adverse events and drug-drug interactions. The length of treatment with an oral antifungal determines the degree of toxicity and clinical tolerance. For this reason, an oral, well-tolerated and relatively nontoxic antifungal that is active over short treatment courses has the potential to gain acceptance in the treatment of common dermatophytes.
