Decorative, 'glass enhancement' films can have spin-off benefits in addition to serving their intended aesthetic functions. And interestingly, as is the case with many products, they frequently are seen by some as useful for purposes other than what they were originally intended. Many clear films and most window enhancement film contain the same ultraviolet (UV) absorbers that conventional solar control films have. Where these films are used on sun-exposed glass lites, the elimination of better than 99 percent of the UV radiation can offer significant protection from the damaging effects of this form of solar radiation, reducing fabric fading and screening out a known cause of skin cancer that is transmitted through unprotected glass.
