The newest window film products and computerized pre-cutting techniques open windows of opportunity for unfettered creativity. Most consumers, architects and design professionals are reasonably familiar with traditional window film treatments to improve the safety and solar performance of standard glazing systems. However, far fewer are aware of the rapidly growing world of cost-effective design possibilities brought about by the expanding array of decorative film products now being offered by film manufacturers. These new enhancement films transform existing glass windows, doors and room dividers in the home and office into subtle and often striking design elements. These films constitute a palette of unlimited visual possibilities, offering the designer working with skilled professional installers, power to control through form, texture and colour, the flow of light and the level of privacy in any work or living space. No longer restricted to exterior glass, nor even merely to glass itself, many of these films can be used on metal, painted, or other flat and cylindrical surfaces. The design possibilities, installation techniques and layout of these film products create interesting technical possibilities that open the door to surprising applications.
