East Asian hot rolled coil prices softenedslightly ahead of China’s National Dayholidays at the start of October, withChinese mills preferring to stay out of themarket in a bid to stabilize prices until afterthe week-long break. In late August, pricesbroke through the $400/mt CFR barrier forthe first time since April’s 2016 peak, duelargely to planned production curtailmentsto improve the environment for the G20Summit in eastern China’s Hangzhou.
