Vacuum lifters are available in a variety of styles specially designed for handling glass. Hand-held models are most often used for applications where glass dimensions and weight are conducive to one or two person handling. Below-the-hook lifters are employed when lifting larger glass into multi-level buildings, loading and unloading fabrication equipment, or when manpower availability dictates single-person operations. Because vacuum lifters attach to the face of the glass, leaving the edges free, they are an ideal tool for installing flat glass and IG units and for loading processing machinery, such as edgers and bevellers.
