POULTRY MEAT IS forecasted to overtake pork as the world's most popular meat by 2030 based on OECD 2010 survey. As the top player, Asia-Pacific produced 34mn tons of poultry meat in 2010, one third of the world's poultry meat production (FAO). It isindeed a promising opportunity in the poultry business sector, but is the industry ready to cope with the rising feed and production costs facing the poultry industry today?Nutrition plays a major role in poultry meat production because feed costs contribute to more than 60 per cent of the production costs. Finding solutions to the rising feed costs is, therefore, everyone's concern. One practical tool is efficient feed formulation, i.e. providing high quality feeds at possible least costs. Apart from raw materials impact on feed cost such as those of protein and energy sources, critical evaluation of available feed additives also affects feed costs.
