New approval for broad spectrum strawberry fungicide

Protected strawberry growers, who account for a very large proportion of the total, can now use arguably the broadest spectrum fungicide available. It controls all three of the crop's most devastating diseases. Until this season Signum was approved only for outdoor strawberries but its recent PSD approval for application in polytunnels means that nearly all 3,200ha of the UK's commercial crop can benefit from its use. The importance for growers of this extension was stressed by Simon Townsend, BASF's product stewardship manager, at a press briefing at Huntingdon, Cambs.
