Fertilisers for oil palm

Good yield is the ultimate goal in growing oil palm. And among the various agricultural inputs, perhaps only next to water, fertilisers contribute the maximum to increasing agricultural production. For good growth there must be three major nutrient elements available to the plants - Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium (NPK). Fertilisers carrying these nutrient elements can be in the form of straight or compound fertiliser. Example of straight fertilisers are Ammonium Sulphate and Urea both supplyingNitrogen (N); Christmas Island Rock Phosphate, which supplies phosphorous (P); Potassium Chloride, which supplies Potassium (K); and Kieserite, which supplies Magnesium (Mg) element. However Magnesium is needed in lesser quantity.
