摘要

Sir, Micrographic surgery followed by visualization of the excision margins, either by cryostat or paraffin technique [Mohs micrographic surgery/three-dimensional (3D) histology] is the gold standard of care for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in the high-risk area of the face. Paraffin techniques such as the "Tubinger Torte' or 'Muffin technique' visualize vertical and horizontal surface sections to provide a complete 3D view of the excision margins. In these techniques all excision margins are embedded in paraffin and stained with haematoxy-lin and eosin (H&E). Further, ex vivo confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) rapidly produces two-dimensional images of microscopic morphology without tissue processing.
