'Time' the key ingredient in creating new lily varieties

Yellow, white, orange, red, pink...... Today, there's a marvellous array of lilies available, including many colours and varieties not even dreamed of 20 years ago, according to the Netherlands Flowerbulb Information Centre. Yet despite this success,often thanks to Dutch growers, the creation of a new lily is still a lengthy and risky process.
