摘要

In many greenhouse operations, small black flics are often seen hanging around the growing media. Most of these flies are usually fungus gnats and/or shoreflies. Though these flies arc often regarded as just a nuisance, they can be quite a bit more than that. The immature stages of fungus gnats generally feed on decaying organic matter, soil fungi and algae, and can cause direct damage by feeding on fine roots, root hairs and on tender lower stems. They also cause indirect damage by facilitating disease infections through the damaeed root tissue.
