An early start for Martin Farms: their first greenhouse was built in the '20s

Leo Martin established a mixed vegetable farming operation in 1913 at Vineland Station, just beyond the shadow of the Niagara Escarpment and along the shores of Lake Ontario. He built a greenhouse in the 1920's for starter plants, making him a greenhouse pioneer in Ontario, and he was soon supplying other growers with vegetable transplants.
