The latest Palmer Market Research report The Window, Door and Conservatory Markets in Housing in Great Britain, 2012 edition - revealed something that many in the conservatory industry were already aware about - home owners are buying higher value conservatories. While both windows and entrance doors fell to their lowest level for nearly 30 years, conservatories combated an 8% decline in volume with a 12% rise in value. 'A combination of bigger sized conservatories and trends towards more expensive orangeries, glass (rather than polycarbonate) roofs and bi-fold external doors, all helped to increase average prices by a fifth', explained Palmer
