New facility double the size of original building. BC Hot House Foods Inc. has officially opened its new headquarters in Surrey, British Columbia. A 117,000-square-metre (130,000-square-foot) facility on 6.8 hectares (17 acres) of land, the new location also includes BC Hot House's central packing and grading facility. Investment in the new facility includes 14 dollar-mil-lion for the building, 2.5 dollar-million for a state-of-the-art tomato grader and1.4 dollar-million for a new sweet bell pepper grader. One of the main features is the air conditioner, a vital component in maintaining produce freshness, which utilizes water as a coolant -easier on the environment than the usual freon gas.
