New approaches to forcing Easter lilies: presented at the 2001 Canadian Greenhouse Conference

Easter lilies have undergone quite a bit of changes both in the field (Southern Oregon and Northern California) as well as in greenhouse forcing. When we visited California and Oregon a few years ago, we started to understand some of the concerns that field growers have when producing and harvesting the crop (bulb), while we have focussed on the greenhouse forcing aspects. I will concentrate on some of the research that we (Wayne Brown, David Kerec and myself) have done at the Vineland campus. I will concentrate on three different areas, namely: (i) Forcing procedures. (ii) Height control. (iii) Leaf yellowing.
