Ornamentals a growing segment of B,C, industry

Omost rapidly expanding segments of B.C. horticulture. Despite the economic downturns of the past few years, the floriculture industry continues to experience a steady annual growth rate of about 5 per cent. Statistics Canada estimated that in 1994, the size of the B. C. greenhouse industry was 180 ha and the sales of floricultural ornamentals were 141-million dollar. In the last few years, growers have been expanding rather than retro-fitting existing greenhouses.
