The stemless lady's slipper is not just another pretty flower. A herb native to Saskatchewan's boreal forest, the plant is valued for its use as a sedative and as relief from muscle spasms.But the lady's slipper is becoming scarce because the wildcrafters harvest it for those medicinal properties. Habitat destruction is reducing its numbers even more, says Dr. Richard St. Pierre, a research scientist in the Department of Horticulture Science at the University of Saskatchewan.
