Technology in general is moving at a staggering speed, and the floriculture industry is no exception. It took 10 years to change from crates and boxes to semi-standardized plastic trays. The predominant 11 "X21" tray size lasted 25 years; now the size of flats changes every season. The cell pack of 10-0-6 lasted 15 years; today, the cell pack size has no standard. Even plug technology took 15 years to be adopted by the majority of growers. Now computers and competition make us live in a time where change is the only thing that is constant ... and guaranteed. With computer technology, anything with a motor or any electric signal can be incorporated into a computerized function which enables them to operate with unlimited combinations, resulting in more accurate functions and applications.
