This is the 10th edition of the Greenhouse Canada Grower Day and we're again focusing on poinsettia, the most popularly grown potted plant crop. With a crop that requires a large investment of lime and often provides so little return, it is important to keep searching for new ways and procedures to improve the bottom line. Poinscllia production in mid- and eastern-North America greenhouses used to be a great filler crop to keep your employees busy through to the end of the year, and it helped you keep in touch with your customers. In the last 15 years, however, the cost of greenhouse operations in general have risen dramatically with only a minimal, if any, increase in the selling priée.
