Charlottetown landmark operation expanding crop lineup with new veggies

A landmark Charlottetown greenhouse, in business since 1959, is converting 44,000 square feet of its tomato crop to grow at least six different vegetables for the retail market. VanKampen's Greenhouse will-now be able to supply a complete mix bf saladvegetables. Brothers Charlie and Bill VanKampen operate this two-acre greenhouse, which was initially operated by their father Gus. "Allan Street (the location of their business) was just a clay road back then," notes Charlie. "Now we've got one of thebusiest streets in Charlottetown."
