Ontario's reusable container study completes field study on contenders

The Ontario fresh fruit and vegetable industry has been investigating reusable plastic shipping containers to replace corrugated cardboard ones. The major reasons are to improve the quality and shelf-life of produce, while reducing operating costs. The industry uses an estimated 30-million corrugated cardboard containers annually for over 30 major crops. Most consumers never see the shipping containers at a retail store, as the produce is removed from them and put on display.
