A flower's beautiful scent, its petals' unique colour or the very existence of a rare species... all could be enhanced or preserved thanks to techniques developed by University of Guelph researchers. Horticultural science professor Praveen Saxena, research scientist Sankaran Krishnaraj and research technician Tannis Slimmon are using molecular manipulation and "micropropagation" techniques to introduce desired variation into — and mass produce — plants in the laboratory.
