摘要

There are many economic and environmental advantages to using a recirculating subirrigation system for fertigating potted flowering crops in greenhouses. However, one of the concerns with this technology, as mentioned in other articles by these authors, is the very real potential for dispersal of soil-borne pathogens through the irrigation systems. In a previous article (Dec. 2002, Greenhouse Canada), we reported that there is a high risk with the major pathogens affecting flower crops for moving through the irrigation system if the nutrient solutions become contaminated with infective propagules (spores of fungi or bacterial cells). The results reported in that article were obtained from sampling storage tanks in commercial greenhouses.
