Alaska Crude Decline Offsets Lower 48 Growth

A 4 drop in Alaskan crude oil production caused the first weekly decline in overall US crude output since February despite a 15th straight week of growth in the US lower 48 states. Data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) show that US crude output fell by 9,000 barrels per day during the week ended May 12 to 9.305 million b/d. The last time that US crude production declined week-to-week was in early February, when domestic oil output was still under 9 million b/d.
