Recently, improvement of the durability of lead acid batteries under higher temperature environmental condition has been strongly required by the progress of car electronics and its application to the vehicles resulting in the increase of electric load consumed for automobile together with acceleration by the demand of decrease of battery1s space in engine compartment or heavy traffic congestion in these days. Additionally, the market of SLI batteries still needs the improvement in maintenance free performances.In order to meet above-mentioned demands, we have developed long life SLI calcium lead-acid batteries with high temperature resistance. The life of this battery with a newly developed calcium-type grid showed an approximately twice longer than that of the conventional calcium flooded type battery at the higher temperature of 75℃ by the JIS light load endurance test.
