CVR 1Q nitrogen earnings up; company aggressively recruiting fertilizer management team

CVR Energy Inc. reported a huge earnings increase from its nitrogen fertilizer business for the first quarter ending March 31, 2011, with operating income of $16.8 million on sales of $57.4 million, compared to the year-ago $3 million on sales of $38.3 million. Adjusted nitrogen EBITDA was $25.9 million, up from the year-ago $8.8 million.
