摘要

Boehle's Guernsey Farm, Baldwin, Kan., is successfully owned and operated by Nancy and Jim Sack. It was Nancy's grandfather and father that kept the careful records that allow us to trace the herd's history back through the years. Many of the sires used at Boehle's Guernsey farm through the years were related to one particular bull, High Point Prince Maxim, and line breeding seemed to be a successful venture for the herd; W.O. "Bill" Boehle and his son, Gerald, bought some Guernsey heifers from the Kissinger brothers in Kansas, and those Springdale prefixed cattle were the only purchased females to ever come into the Boehle herd. Bulls, however, were purchased on a regular basis to pass on their genetic line. The Boehle's at one time considered themselves a "line bred Maxim herd," as all the bulls they used were related to the Prince Maxim bull.
