K+S reports 2nd best year for potash/mag unit

Kassel—K+S Group reported that its Potash/Magnesium unit posted its second-best results ever for the year ending Dec. 31, 2012. Operating income for the unit was up 4.7 percent, to ?773.9 million from 2011 's ?739.5 million, while revenues were up 7.4 percent, to ?2.29 billion from 2011 's ?2.13 billion. The company said revenue growth was mainly due to higher average prices, as well as the positive development of exchange rates. At 6.95 million mt, sales volumes remained stable with 2011.
