It is important to calculate the correct amount of product needed to treat an area or crop and to calibrate the application equipment to maximize pest management, avoid plant injury (phytotoxicity), protect human health and the environment, prevent waste and comply with government regulations. Calculation is determining, by mathematical processes, how much pest control material should be added to a designated amount of water. Calibration is the process of measuring and adjusting the amount of pest control material needed to insure the appropriate rate is applied.
