When Todd Fryhover started working part time for the Washington Apple Commission, he had no notion that within two years he would be named president of the organization. He started out helping with the export program on a contract basis, then became afull-time project manager, and was promoted to export director just a month before being appointed president. "I had three different business cards in six weeks," said Fryhover. "When I stepped in at the Apple Commission, never, ever, did it cross my mind—and I mean ever—that I would be sitting in this position right here," he said during an interview at his office. "If you had told me two years or even a year and a half ago that I was going to be president of the Apple Commission, I would have said, 'You're crazy. Why would I do that?"
