Bodegas Salentein, a winery located on the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains in Argentina, takes advantage of a range of elevations to produce a full range of wines. The winery, located in the Valle de Uco in the state of Mendoza, has three ranches with a total of 700 hectares (1,730 acres) of grapes at elevations ranging from 970 to 1,500 meters (3,200 to 5,000 feet) above sea level. Malbec, Argentina's signature full-bodied red wine, is produced from grapes grown at the lower elevations, alongwith Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Shorter-season varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc, are planted in the higher vineyards.
