GROWERS are turning their attention to a new variety of broccoli that can potentially improve harvest efficiency and save labour costs. Like no other, Easy Harvest broccoli also known as Raised Head broccoli, has a raised head, clean stem and uniformity of maturity. "The product is showing some great potential, and in the next few years Monsanto will look to commercialise varieties after rigorous testing to ensure consistent quality and performance across all bio-zones," according to Monsanto's technology development manager, Troy Mulcahy.
