Take a paddock full of green Roma tomatoes, overlay with shrinking commercial contracts, add a huge supply of creativity and positive energy, a pinch of international networking and a generous dollop of old fashioned teamwork, and you have the basis for a successful home-grown business. In 2001 Marilyn and Ian Lanyon of Terralea Farms, together with their dedicated staff, faced a challenge familiar to many in the industry: they had a solid farming background, suitable soils, and established and proven growing methods, but they also had diminishing commercial contracts and a decreasing income stream.
