Knauf is expanding in Russia

Germany/Russia The German Knauf group is to invest US15m (Euro 11.7m) to develop the Glubokoye (Deep) gypsum deposit in Kholmogorsky District in Russia's Arkhangelsk region.The group will start tapping the deposit in 2007 to produce up to 1Mt of gypsum rock annually.The project will create about 100 jobs.The only problem the group still faces is a lack of rolling stock to transport the extracted gypsum to Leningrad Region for its further processing.
