New report sees 7%/yr growth in US board market

US: According to a report by the Freedonia Group, Inc., a Cleveland, Ohio-based industry market research firm, demand for building boards of all descriptions in the US is forecast to rise by 7.0%/ yr from 2013 to 2017 to 4 88BnM2/yr (52.5Bnft2), as measured on a 9.5mm (3/8 inch) basis. Residential construction markets accounted for approximately 50% of total demand in 2012 although that percentage has historically been much higher. Increased construction activity due to an expected housing market rebound is expected to lead to higher construction board sales, including gypsum wallbpard.
