FDN is in the south-eastern Ecuadorian province of Zamora-Chinchipe, skirting the border with Peru in the Sub-Andean highland region of Cordillera del Condor, from which the broader project takes its name. The Condor project comprises 39 exploration concessions covering 95,000ha, in an area featuring substantial relief between 800-2,400m above sea level and covered mainly by cloud forest.
