Cervarix dropped in favour of Gardasil for HPV vaccination programme

GARDASIL will be used in the national human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination programme from next year instead of Cervarix, the Department of Health announced last month. The quadrivalent vaccine Gardasil, manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur MSD, will be used to vaccinate girls aged 12-13 years from September 2012 following a competitive tendering process.
