Miner of the Year: Sino Gold Mining Explorer of the Year: Westgold Resources

The winners of the 2008 Gold Mining Journal awards are: Sino Gold Mining Ltd, Miner of the Year; and Westgold Resources Ltd, Explorer of the Year. Across the eight years of Gold Mining Journal publishing its annual awards in the January-March edition (starting with the 2002 edition), the decision making process has evolved and expanded, this year being supported by an email survey of 100 industry players. Those surveyed include a cross-section of nominations and opinions from producers, explorers, brokers, analysts, media and Gold Mining Journal associates - as well as our in-house analysis - leading to a consensus opinion on the most appropriate recipients for these highly credible awards.
